Bijanbari Degree College is a Government aided institution founded on 4th November 1995 and affiliated to the University of North Bengal. The institution is located at Bijanbari, 30 kilometers west of Darjeeling at an altitude of 2500 feet and has several approach routes from Darjeeling. Situated against a backdrop of lush green and charming hills in a calm and peaceful ambience at the base of Chungthung tea garden at the bank of river Chhota Rangit with beautiful Bijanbari town on the other side of the river, the College has two campuses the other being at Bijanbari Kainjaley road. As visualised by the founders, the institution with a rural background, caters the provision of higher education to students from rural as well as urban areas and the neighbouring state of Sikkim. Known as Darjeeling Pulbazar developmental block, Bijanbari is a large developmental area, popular for its agricultural produce and especially for its proximity to the famous tourist destination Sandakphu on one side and the world’s highest railway station Ghoom, on the other.

We visualise to provide students of rural as well as urban background an environment of equal opportunity in education and in the development of personality and leadership quality to walk together in the mainstream of the nation.

ADMINISTRATION
The management and administration of the College is the responsibility of the Governing Body. ADMISSION RULES
1. All admissions will be conducted ONLINE as per notice given in the College website www.bijanbaridegreecollege.org
2. Admissions in Honours programme and Programme courses will be conducted strictly on merit basis and availability of seats.
ELIGIBILITY
3. A student is eligible for admission to BA Honours programme and BA Programme Course on passing Higher Secondary Examination conducted by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or examinations conducted by Indian School Certificate (ISC) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any other board recognised as equivalent provided he/she has passed in at least four subjects with English as compulsory subject excluding Environmental studies/Environmental science/Environmental Education.
4. A candidate will not be allowed to take any subject if he/she has failed in the corresponding subject at Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or other examinations recognised as equivalent by the University.
5. Students passing qualifying examinations in vocational course will be allowed to take programme course subject to fulfilment of other criteria.
6. Students passing from boards other than West Bengal Board of HS Education shall have to produce migration certificates.
7. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC A/OBC B and persons with disabilities will be maintained as per relevant GOs and subsequent amendments.
8. Eligibility for admission to Honours programme:
55% in aggregate
Or
50% in aggregate with 60% marks in the subject in the qualifying examinations. For students belonging to SC/ST categories the minimum marks for eligibility shall be 5% less on aggregate.
It is important for intending candidates to go through the Admission notice published by the Principal in the College website announcing the different dates and schedule of admission process. EXAMINATIONS
There are six semesters in three years degree course with six months for a semester. University examinations are conducted at the end of each semester ie usually in the months of June (even semesters) and December (odd semesters). The internal assessments will be conducted by the College and de4partmental assignments are mandatory for students. The University will prepare results in the form of Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA).
